Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour

The Tacoma Historical Society presents it's 14th annual Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour.

This year's tour features eight homes and one church in Tacoma's "Historic West End."

The tour will be May 5th and May 6th, 2007

Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm.

Tickets are $20 each for non society members and $15 each for society members. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Tacoma Historical Society Exhibit Center, 747 Broadway; the Pacific Northwest Shop; Stadium Thriftway; Union Avenue, Fircrest,  and Westgate branches of Columbia Bank.

Proceeds from the Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour tickets benefit the Tacoma Historical Society Museum Fund. THS is a 501(c) organization.

May is National Preservation Month

Tacoma,WA (May 1, 2007) – Citizens in Tacoma will join thousands of individuals around the country as part of a nationwide celebration of 2007 National Preservation Month in May 2007. “Making Preservation Work!" is the theme of the month-long celebration, which is sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Since the National Trust created Preservation Week in 1971 to spotlight grassroots preservation efforts in America, it has grown into an annual celebration observed by small towns and big cities with events ranging from architectural and historic tours and award ceremonies, to fundraising events, educational programs and heritage travel opportunities. Due to its overwhelming popularity, the National Trust has extended the celebration to the entire month of May and declared it Preservation Month to provide an even longer opportunity to celebrate the diverse and unique heritage of our country’s cities and states and enable more Americans to become involved in the growing preservation movement. The first official Preservation Month was observed in 2005.

Here in Tacoma Preservation Month 2007 will be observed by Historic Tacoma with their series of lectures, The Tacoma Historical Society with their Historic Homes of Tacoma Tour, and the North Slope Historic District with their walking tour of homes. Click on their names to visit their websites.

Sales Stats for Pierce County Nov, Dec, and 2006 YTD

The NWMLS and it's tax record company Realist have released the sales stats for November and December 2006. I've attached the chart that shows single family residences and condos.  Sales were down slightly each month but the median sales price increased- nearly 15.3% YTD!
